CPI(M) Odisha organises 23rd State Conf in Cuttack

The 23rd State conference of CPI(M) Odisha concluded in Cuttack, with a firm commitment in expanding the party’s ideological and organisational influence at the grassroots level.

A public rally and meeting was held on December 16 at Bali Yatra ground. Thousands of party workers participated in procession over six- km stretch walking from Cuttack Railway Station to Baliyatra padia. 

Prominent among the party leaders who addressed the meeting were party Polit Bureau member Surjya Kant Mishra, Central Committee member Amra Ram, outgoing Odisha State secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik, Banai (Sundargarh) MLA Lakshman Munda, party leaders Puspa Das and Badri Narayan Das. The meeting was presided over by Senior leader Janardan Pati.

The delegate session of the conference was conducted at Sitaram Yechury Nagar -Shibaji Pattanaik Mancha (Barabati Stadium, Cuttack) where veteran leader Janardan Pati hoisted the red flag. As many as 166 elected delegates and 22 observers attended the conference. 

The conference had nominated various committees for the smooth conduct of the conference in which Judhistir Behera headed credentials committee, Surajita Nayak headed the Minutes committee and the state Secretariat members worked as steering committee. The presidium was consisting of Janardan Pati, Puspa Das, Basant Majhi, Lakshman Munda and Jahangir Ali.

While Polit Bureau Member and West Bengal veteran leader Surjya Kant Mishra inagurated the session, representatives of CPI, CPIML (Liberation) and All India Forward Bloc greeted the delegates.

The conference discussed on the political and organisational report presented by outgoing secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik, with 57 delegates actively participated in the debate. 

The conference elected a 30 member new State committe and Suresh Chandra Panigrahy was elected as the new State secretary. Delegates elected to represent Odisha at the upcoming CPI(M) Party Congress in Madurai included Suresh Chandra Panigrahy, Santosh Das ,Dushmanta Das, Pramod Kumar Samal, Lakshman Munda and Puspa Das.

Basanta Majhi was elected as Editor of party’s weekly Odia organ “Samyabadee”.

While adressing the delegate session party Polit Bureau member Nilotpal Basu spoke on global challenges posed by capitalism and imperialism. 

Basu called for renewed efforts to combat communal forces and strengthen unity at the grassroots, reaffirming that the red flag remains a symbol of hope for the working class of the country.

The conference also discussed and passed resolutions on Solidarity with Palestine, against communalism, opposing one nation one election, worker peasant unity, agrarian crisis, Dalit, Adivasi and Woman issues, against New education Policy, on public health, price rise, unemployment besides  demanded for farmer and labourer loan waivers and legal guarantees for Minimum Support Prices (MSP), etc.

An Exhibition on “Glorious past of communist movement and challenges for future” was organised in the sidelines of the conference which was inaugurated by  Surjyakanta Mishra.
